Trinity UMC is active in ministry with our friends across the border in Mexico. We have a partnering relationship with the churches in San Luis Rio Colorado through the United Methodist Church-to-Church initiative, and in 2004 built a parsonage for the pastor and family at Templo Bernabe. The construction of a 3-bedroom parsonage with attached showers and bathrooms for Templo Ismaschias is currently at the stage of installing the air conditioning and heating unit. In February of 2005, 2006, and 2007 we have taken a work team to Puerto Penasco (Rocky Point) in Baja California and built a home for a Mexican family. The teams included people of all ages, and it was exciting to be a part of such a life-changing ministry. The completed homes are small and not much from our American viewpoint, but are a real blessing to the families who had been living in shelters with dirt floors with cardboard walls. We plan to go again in 2008, and will be raising financial support throughout the year. If YOU are interested in going, please note that a valid passport will be required in 2008.
